The Department of State has put together a very informative web site about Firefighter Recruitment. I would suggest that you take a look.

Did you know that all volunteers do not necessarily fight fires directly? You have a choice...You can be:

• An Interior Fire Fighter who deals directly with a fire.
• A Support person who works outside the fire handling equipment and hoses needed by the fire fighters
• A member of the Emergency Medical Team
• Driver Only Personnel
• Or a member of the Fire Police.

It is possible to be any one or several of these volunteers at any stage in your career with the department.
