News from Karla Smith, Rescue Captain
Colton Rescue is pleased to announce that we are now doing our patient care reports(PCR's) electronically. The current trend with technology is leaning towards electronic medical records for everyone's medical history/healthcare and it's exciting to be a part of it. With electronic recording, we will no longer have to keep copies of PCR's for 7 years. They will be in "cyberspace" which is guaranteed HIPPA compliant so no one's record can be hacked in to.
A goal this year for our EMT's is to start our EMS Pilot program. The program involves EMT's reviewing skills and knowledge obtained thru classroom lectures and seminars over a 3 year period rather than the traditional approach of refreshing their certification every 3 years via classroom lectures, a practical(hands on) and a written state examination. Pilot programs can be found throughout the state, and its incentive of extending the review period of 3 years, helps lead to recruitment and retention of EMT's.
We look forward to serving our communities and strive to provide the best possible care for any and all who need our assistance.
Respectively,
Karla Smith
EMS Captain
