COLTON FIRE DISTRICT REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 12, 2009

Present: Dennis Eickhoff, Paul Caster, Charles Wright, Bill Smith, Jerry Wilson, MJ Watson

Chairman Eickhoff called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.

Caster moved and Wright seconded that the minutes of the October 8 Regular Meeting, October 20, 2009 hearing, and October 20, 2009 special meeting be approved. Carried Unanimously.

Wilson moved and Caster seconded that bills in the amount of $2,320.96 be approved for payment. Carried Unanimously.

Eickhoff reported that the information had been sent to Time Warner regarding the change from Verizon to Time Warner at the Colton Fire Station. The station will keep the same phone number.

The labor law posters have arrived and have been posted.

TA88 has been fixed. The problem was in the o ring air pressure. Two trucks will be inspected next Wednesday. Floyd Supernault is available to drive the trucks.

Smith requested that the trash line on E81 not be used. It is a fairly simple repair to fix since there is a joint loose. Wilson and Smith will check whether the repairs can be done locally.

The one bid received for the tank in South Colton was opened. Caster moved and Wilson seconded that the bid be accepted in the amount of $157.58. Watson to contact. The power to the pump needs to be unhooked. Wright to pursue.

The tentative date for the ladder testing is November 23. This has been coordinated with Pierrepont and Parishville. The next day Winthrop, Stockholm and Hopkinton will be tested.

The fender and bumper to R16 was damaged on November 3 when Aaron Johnson moved the truck to test the generator. Trevor Wood (?) suggested that just the hood needed to be replaced. Wright recommended that the vehicle be taken for an estimate. He will check with Johnny Hart of North Country Collision. Wilson to call Hart to see if he would look at it. Rather than driving the vehicle to his business, it might be possible to just take a picture of the damage and send it to him.

Wilson thanked Wright for getting the Colton door finally fixed. Wilson will check with J C Merriman to obtain a sweeper for a steel door.

Smith reported that the portable pump will be delivered to the station next week. The 3 year old pump on the boat has not bee repaired although it is running. The pump does not run without pumping water. Wilson moved and Caster seconded that it be returned to the manufacturer. Carried unanimously. Smith will get a pallet to place it on and contact a shipper. Slater to be contacted to determine shipping address.

Smith noted that the lights for the trucks are in. They will be labeled with a truck identification. A new checklist needs to be set up for use by the individuals who look after the vehicles. Wright stated that there were some in South Colton that could be used. A clipboard should be in each vehicle and when a checklist is done, the responsible individual will sign and date it.

The maps are completed and copies are needed for every vehicle. Wood will probably make the copies. There are binders in the station that can be used. The district will acquire sheet protectors for each map.

The computer at the South Colton station can be moved to Colton and used for training purposes.

Xerox will be sending a proposal for a new copier.

The diagrams for the drains, septic, dry well, etc. for the South Colton station have been found.

Upon motion by Wilson and second by Caster the meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. Carried Unanimously.

Respectfully submitted,

MJ Watson
